Multitasking

Any other multitasking masters out there?

Y’all, I’m writing this with so much humility.

I struggle with this often. There’s so much to do in a day. It can be easy to feel like it makes sense to take on as many tasks at one time as I can.

Just the other day, I had this webinar that I attended. They were talking slow, and that part probably wasn’t that important. So I just popped over and checked some emails.

Wait. What did they say? Hold up. She was talking about something I wanted to hear, and I totally missed it!

Ugh. I’m the guiltiest.

I could sit here and list all the plates I have spinning. I bet you could totally relate. It is so easy to slip into this pattern.

But I have to remind myself of the value of presence.

I heard this once:

“You can train your mind to be focused or fractured.”

Ooof. That hits hard. A fractured mind hit way too close to home. I have often felt like I am doing too many things at once to be doing any of them well.

So now, I try to be more mindful: Present with my family, present with my work, and present with my friends. Overall, simply present to one thing at a time.

A fractured mind is not what I want.

What is one thing you can do today to increase your focus and be more present? Let’s talk in the comments.
